Las Colas del Hambre

This spectacular work of art (The hunger lines ) depicted in this piece shows the cruel situation of Cubans in getting food from the time they get up in the morning until they go to sleep. In the work the artist shows the general tense atmosphere of the Cuban people, evoking the struggles and contradictions associated with the experiences to which 90 percent of the population of Cuba is subjected, mired in a long crisis for 65 years.

With this piece the artist seeks to show with a critical nuance the disconnection between idealization and reality that these governments show to the world in order to provoke a deep reflection on the challenges and contradictions inherent to communist systems, exploring how ideals can collide with reality. The artist invites the viewer to critically consider the complex aspects of the political and social history of Cuba and the countries that are still governed by communist regimes.
